A Dulwich Stroll
Dulwich Park
Dulwich Park is a beautiful place to regroup, to eat a packed lunch,
to see a bit of Nature, to watch the other people doing these things.
1. This is one of the four entrances to the park, each with impressive
limestone columns. This is the Old College Gate.
2. The park is very well tended by the generosity of the British taxpayers.
Even at the end of September, there are blazing displays of blooms. On one of the
rare British sunny days, people flock to the park to enjoy the good weather.
3. There is an aluminium map, showing the pond, where boats can be hired,
and the refreshment palace.
4. Here are the geese, racing across the pond to the silhouette of a human,
ready for feeding. Across the water is the boathouse, where rowing boats
and pedal boats can be hired during the summer.
5. Dulwich Park on a fine day has a very large population of babies, all
wanting to throw bread at ducks and the villainous geese.
6. There is lots of other wildlife too, also looking for various kinds
of handout!
7. The refreshment palace, filled with sticky young faces shining
with ice cream.
